The Central Bank of Nigeria on Friday apologized to Nigerians on the inconveniences caused by the newly implemented cashless policy and said it would continue with the implementation of the policy in line with its mandate to ensure an efficient payment system.
The CBN Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, rendered the apology while briefing journalists shortly after the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting.
He said, “I sympathize and regret inconvenience cashless policy will cause bank customers.”
He stated that nationwide implementation beyond the current six pilot states would commence in March 2020.
