The corp member, who is from Kogi state, was posted to INEC as ad-hoc staff and functioned as a presiding officer during the election. He drowned in River Niger at Ibaji local government area of Kogi state after a boat mishap on his way from the electoral assignment. He hails from Egagbenebe in Ofu local government area, regarded as one of the Ogugu communities in Igala land. Chief Onoja condoled the family and described the loss as a huge one on the community and family, stressing that he died on a national and state assignment. He also promised that the Kogi state government would affect his community with programs and projects in memorial of the deceased corp member. He prayed for the family, assuring them of government’s assistance through the period, also, in extension to his family to see that the dreams and contributions of Samuel to his family does not go to the grave with him. Late Samuel is survived by his father, mother and three siblings. He has since been buried.
