If Real Madrid fans thought that controversy would be over for them with their top spot in La Liga, they are sorely mistaken.
The Spanish giants have revealed their 19-men squad for Tuesday’s game against Club Brugge in Matchday 2 of the UEFA Champions League, and fans have already started to raise their eyebrows for two clear omissions made by Zinedine Zidane.
The French boss decided to leave out of the squad two of his finest players this season: James Rodríguez and Gareth Bale. Both men seemed to be heading out of the squad during the summer, but they seemed to have earned their place in Zizou’s lineup. Nevertheless, both of them were left out of the game against the Belgian side.
What is even more surprising is that Zidane decided to give Marcelo and Isco, two players that just recovered from injuries, a spot in his squad.
Real Madrid is desperate to earn their first three points of the competition, especially after being defeated by PSG on Matchday 1 with a 3-0 score. But if they want to bounce back from it, Zidane’s men will have to do so without these duo.
