Court dismisses suit demanding EFCC to investigate Gov. Ganduje’s alleged $5m bribery Video

A Federal High Court sitting in Kano has dismissed a lawsuit filed by a Kano based lawyer Bulama Bukarti asking the court to mandate the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the state governor, Abdullahii Umar Ganduje, for allegedly receiving kickback from a contractor.

Recall that in October 2018, videos purportedly showing the governor receiving bundles of dollar notes from a road contractor surfaced online. The governor had however denied the allegation, saying the videos were doctored.

Bulama had approached the court seeking for an order compelling the EFCC to provide report of its forensic investigation analysis of the said videos.

However, delivering judgement in the suit today, Justice Egwuatu dismissed the case on the grounds that the evidence brought before him did not show that the EFCC has the record of the forensic analysis of the bribery video allegations.
